The Trend brand of computer security products is owned by Trend Micro which was founded in the US in 1988.
Now headquartered in Tokyo and quoted on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, it recorded revenues of $1 billion in 2008. It employs nearly 5,000 staff worldwide, of which over a quarter are devoted to research and development.
And it’s not only web security of course, Trend is also involved in Endpoint and Messaging solutions. The company provides home computer users and companies and organizations of all sizes, with security solutions that protect against a wide range of threats and combined attacks including viruses, spam, phishing, spyware, botnets
and data-stealing malware.
The company also develops, delivers, and supports proactive solutions designed to safeguard critical information and protect personal and corporate reputations, and is an industry leader in security intelligence.
One of its top products is the Internet Security Pro application which is billed as the smart security answer for total online safety. Trend says it provides the most comprehensive, easy-to-use protection for personal data so that a computer user can shop, bank, or browse with the utmost confidence.
It safeguards personal information from hackers and cybercriminals whether the user is home, or away, by automatically checking the legitimacy of Wi-Fi “hot spots” when using a laptop on the road; preventing data thieves, viruses, SMS text message spam, and other malware from invading a smartphone; remotely erasing data from a smartphone if it’s stolen; and, inspecting web page content in real-time, meaning a person is protected even if they are the first visitor to a new unsafe website.
And as well as defending a computer from the latest spyware, viruses, and phishing scams, Trend goes one step further. It provides automatic updates; prevents unauthorised users from changing critical applications, without impacting a PC’s performance; pauses security updates or scans when you give presentations, watch films, or play games; automatically prevents suspicious software on USB devices from opening; helps manage all the devices connected to home network; provides parental controls to protect children against inappropriate content; and, gives complete snapshot of security activities on your computer.
Furthermore, it optimizes PC performance. In short, it takes care of most needs.
